Why I Won't Use My Daughter's Name Online

In the first weeks of our pregnancy, I desperately wanted a name to call my baby. Because we didn't know her gender, we decided on a goofy nickname, Skeeter. It was silly, but it gave that tiny baby an identity to us.
I posted it on my blog, mostly intending to only use it until we could announce her real name after our 20-week ultrasound. But before the ultrasound came around, another blogger announced she was quitting blogging and deleting the blog. Her reason? Someone had created fake Facebook accounts with her children's names and images stolen from her blog.

i never thought of the privacy issue either!! i actually thought skeeter was her name, but a nickname is such a great idea to protect her name but be able to write what you want

That's one reason why I won't ever mention my boyfriends real name and if I ever have a baby while I won't share it either.
