So, I mentioned last week that I've written a couple posts for WhatToExpect.com. Well, one of those posts ended up on AOL's homepage.
(Cue minor freak out. A little hyperventilating. Anyone have a paper bag?)
I absolutely loved reading the comments from fellow NICU mommas and nurses! I also noticed a few questions in the comments- most of my normal readers already know these answers- but I thought I'd share them, in case you're new here. I also threw in some bonus info, just because.
Please tell me Skeeter is not on that poor child's birth certificate.
I seriously laughed out loud at this. It was actually asked more than once. So to answer you, no. Skeeter is NOT her real name. When I was pregnant, I wanted to be able to call her something before we knew the gender. We threw around a few goofy nicknames, and Skeeter was chosen. She does have a real name, but I won't post it on the internet.
Do you call her Skeeter in real life?
Rarely. To be honest, I'm not sure she'd even actually answer to it. Then again, she's a toddler. She doesn't always answer to her real name.
Is there a husband in the picture?
I can only assume this was JJ Watt posting under an alias to see if I was available. Sorry, JJ, but Mr. BUB and I will celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary this month. We've been together a total of 8 1/2 years. But call me later...
Who is taller- JJ Watt or Mr. BUB?
Okay, that wasn't actually posted in the comments. But the answer is Mr. BUB. JJ stands at 6'5" while Mr. BUB is 6'9". So yes, while we appear like a normal heighted couple in that picture, I'm actually 5'10".
Why would they want breastmilk if you were on painkillers?
I'm not a doctor, so I can't answer that question for sure. But I know that every medication I was on was listed for Skeeter's neonatologists every time I turned in my milk to the NICU. They deemed it safe to feed her and I trust them.
I hope your baby is doing well now.
Thank you! Skeeter turns 2 next month and is now in the 90th percentile for height and 50th for weight. She's a perfectly healthy strong willed toddler and you would never know she was a preemie!
And here's just a basic intro:
I'm a Texan, Phi Mu, Mommy, and animal lover. I love a good book and host a weekly Book Club. Most of my posts are goofy and you shouldn't take me seriously if I suggest that Usher is probably Skeeter's father. I also love a glass of Sangria, Texas Country music, and eating whatever Mr. BUB cooks. I always answer emails from fellow NICU mommies, so if you're one, feel free to contact me!
So, if you're new here, welcome! And if you have any other questions, feel free to ask here!
