As I mentioned previously, last week Mr. BUB and I celebrated our fourth anniversary. The past two anniversaries we haven't really celebrated, because circumstances just didn't allow. But last weekend, we took a couple days off work and made the drive to San Antonio for a long weekend.
Skeeter stayed with my parents, so we were able to just be husband and wife. We slept in and visited all of the local landmarks and had a wonderful time.
Right when we got to town, we hit the Riverwalk for Sangria and Tex-Mex at Ritas on the River.
We stayed at the historic Menger Hotel. We both love antiques and history, so this was a no-brainer. We loved the antique furniture and the enormous suite we were in. The hotel was just magnificent and the restaurant was amazing.
The Menger Bar is where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders, so of course we stopped to have a drink there. For a tall couple, this place was SMALL. I couldn't believe Mr. BUB didn't hit his head. But it was so much fun to see a small part of history.
The Menger is right next door to the Alamo, which was also awesome. This was the main place we wanted to visit on our trip, so it couldn't have been more convenient. We spent a few hours on Friday walking the Alamo grounds and reading about the historic battle.
Saturday, I laid down to take a nap and woke to the sound of muskets and cannonballs- they were putting on a full Alamo reenactment, so we were able to go on our balcony to watch!
Speaking of our balcony, here's a random balcony shot.
The other place I demanded we go? The Magnolia Pancake Haus. I saw this restaurant on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives and insisted we go. The Apfel Pfannekuchen haunted my dreams until I got to try it for myself. And I'm ruined for other pancakes forever. This was the best thing I've ever eaten.
We also took a trip out to Marquardt Ranch where we were married four years ago. It was great to go back and relive those memories and see the way the Ranch has grown since we were there last!
This is us standing on the spot where we said "I do"!
We made the trek to the Tower of the Americas for drinks.
We spent a lot of time eating on the Riverwalk. Always a good time!
Reason #874 Mr. BUB and I are meant to be together? I doubt I'd ever find another man who would crack my crab and serve it to me.
Here's to a wonderful, beautiful weekend. And to many more years of marriage.
