Book Club!!

Today is Book Club Friday!

To link up, all you have to do is grab the button (above) and link up (below)!

You can write about any book you want.

This week, I'm sharing...

Here is the synopsis:
Meet Pat. Pat has a theory: his life is a movie produced by God. And his God-given mission is to become physically fit and emotionally literate, whereupon God will ensure a happy ending for him -- the return of his estranged wife Nikki. (It might not come as a surprise to learn that Pat has spent time in a mental health facility.) The problem is, Pat's now home, and everything feels off. No one will talk to him about Nikki; his beloved Philadelphia Eagles keep losing; he's being pursued by the deeply odd Tiffany; his new therapist seems to recommend adultery as a form of theraphy. Plus, he's being hunted by Kenny G!

Here are my thoughts:
Okay, so I know that this one has received endless praise and all...but I didn't love it.  Don't get me wrong- I LIKED it.  I just felt like I kept waiting for something more.  I think it's probably because it was hyped up so much.

That said-- I loved the movie.  Mr. BUB really liked it too.  Although, it did stray from the book a little more than I would've liked, it was funny and uplifting.

What are you currently reading??

Did you see the movie first? Because I read the book before seeing the movie and preferred the book (not that the movie wasn't great!).

I still haven't seen the movie but the book was good. I think I'm with you in "liking" it more than "loving" it though.

Because of all the hype this one made it on my to-read list. Haven't gotten to it yet but I'll probably read it and then watch the movie.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt this way! I agree, it's on my like pile but not a re-read pile.

I didn't read the book, but I liked the movie :)

I've had this on my 'To Read' list because of all the hype. But I saw the movie and I didn't really see what all the hype was about either.

I agree. I liked it but it really didn't live up to all the hype.

Which did you do first: movie or book?

I did book first and HIGHLY preferred it. For me, the movie strayed so much it lost its purpose.

I wasn't a big fan of the movie... and of course everyone says the book is better so good to know. Don't think I'll be reading it.

I heard the book was different than the movie but everyone was saying they loved the book more. Interesting that you went the other way! :)

This was one of the rare saw-the-movie-before-reading-the-book and after all the hooplah with the Oscars and how everyone LOVED it...I was kind of underwhelmed. So now I'm really not going to read it. I just hate it when that happens, but I did like looking at Brad's freakishly bright eyes for a good chunk of the movie.

I really enjoyed the movie, but have yet to read the book. I definitely think it'd be fun to read the book that way I could compare and contrast them a little. Although in general, I much prefer reading the book first.

The movie is easily one of my top 5 favorites. I'm afraid to read the book.
