What ARE you?!

Friday morning started off like normal...
I got up, fed the cats, let the dogs out, and ate my breakfast.
At some point, I also let one of the cats, Grayson, out.

When I brought the animals back in, I saw Grayson drop something at my feet.  I decided to deal with it after I cleaned the dogs' paws and let them inside the house.  Upon a quick inspection, I determined it was a really, really large spider.  Policy in the BUB household is that I handle spiders, so I retrieved Mr. BUB's work boot, and edged closer to the creature...that's when I noticed its claws.

I jumped back and squealed, "Oh my gosh, what ARE you?!"

This was immediately followed by, "Grayson, why would you do this to me?!"

Grayson responded by picking up the creature and taking it under the sofa.  At this point, I decided I needed backup.

I went to the bedroom, and gently woke Mr. BUB.  He looked at the clock and groaned, "I still have 20 minutes before my alarm goes off."

"Yes, but I think Grayson brought a crawdad in the house."

This is met with laughter.

"Babe, I am so not equipped to handle this."

"Is it moving?"

"YES!"

So, he got out of bed and I followed him to the living room to show him where Grayson had taken it under the sofa.  Instead, I spotted it in the middle of the living room floor.

Again, I squealed, "Ahhh, it's over there!!!"

Mr. BUB said, "Is that a scorpion?"

{It was at this point that I started packing our bags.  There is no way I will live in a house that once had a scorpion in it.}

After getting closer, he said "Nope, you're right, it's a baby crawdad.

{I breathed a sigh of relief.  Relocation while pregnant would just be a pain.}

He calmly picked the little guy up and relocated him to the outdoors.

Grayson then came to me and started rubbing on my legs.  I assured him that despite this whole incident, he wasn't in trouble, for the following reasons:

1.  This is his baby picture.  You can't be mad at that face.  It's just not possible.

2.  He once killed a snake that got in the house.  That equals a lifetime of Get Out Of Jail Free cards in my book.

Crawdad? Help me out I have never heard of this. My animals seem to leave me when they find things in the apt. It is like "thanks guys, no one is gonna help find the mouse?"

Aww. My husband read yesterday that when a cat brings their owner a dead animal, it's their way of saying "I'm contributing to the house" - and is a sign they love you. LOL. Greyson reeeeally loves you :)

This is why I'm grateful our cat is a prissy girl because she's never brought anything into the house. I probably would've passed out at the sight. haha! So glad hubby came to the rescue!

Um... what is a crawdad? I guess I need to google this. Grayson is too cute to get in big trouble. Scorpions scare the crap out of me though, so I would have wanted to move too!

That is hilarious!! And what are you doing with crawdads in your backyard?!

I've never seen a live scorpion until moving to Austin and I'm quite tired of them :(

Haha! Where did he get a baby crawdad from?

My cat, Kingsley brings me weird/unidentifiable things sometimes too. The last thing be brought was like... feathers and black stuff. No idea what that was.

Have a great week!

I love that you're the spider killer. I would have FREAKED OUT! Haha, this is too funny. You sure can't be mad at that sweet face!

Ew, omg, how weird! HAHA. The policy in our casa, after 5 years of "training" the boyfriend, is that he has to get up for even the smallest little critter. If not, he just knows that I'll be dramatic and cry and break shit while attempting to kill the creature...which ultimately wakes him up anyway.

EWWW! But you're right...he's adorable and killing a snake that got into the house definitely gives him immunity for life! Cute post!

I've just had to Google Crawdad. Holy shit that is ugly and gross! I would not be impressed if my cat brought that in!! Luckily he is too old and lazy these days!

I'm so impressed with Grayson! He sure knows how to protect his family from invaders. :-)

And you can never be mad at that sweet face!

Your cat brings in crawdads, and mine brings in dead birds. I like your scenario better.

Also? That picture is just too cute!!

Cats are such strange creatures. One of the reasons why we don't own one. I can appreciate the cuteness exhibited in that photo though.
