Wedding Woes Wednesday

It took me no time at all to pick out my wedding dress.
As a matter of fact, it was the second dress I tried on.

Sorry for the blurriness...

I didn't have many requirements for my dress, other than it had to be vintage and lacy.
This dress just felt comfortable and the sample fit perfectly.
I ordered it that day and waited impatiently for it to come in.

When my first fitting finally came around, I scarfed down my spaghetti lunch and went to the dress shop.  They gave me a corset bra to put on and helped me into my dress.

The next thing I hear is "It won't zip.  Martha, can you come help?"

These are obviously the last words a bride wants to hear.

The saleswoman proceeded to ask if I'd eaten lunch.  I admitted to having consumed the pasta.  She decided that must be the issue and instructed me to only eat light lunches before fittings from now on.

The following thoughts ran through my head:
As if I'm eating anything before fittings from now on.  I'm certainly not eating spaghetti ever again.  Can one person really bloat that much?  I mean, I have a gym membership.  Doesn't that count for something?  Dear God, will you make 5 lbs disappear right now?  Please??

Martha, a sweet older woman, and the shop owner, arrived to help stuff me into the dress.  She checked the dress measurements against my measurements and determined that the dress should fit without any issues.

After about 5 or 10 more minutes of tugging, Martha realized that the sales person handed me the wrong size bra.  It was bunching and causing the dress to not zip.  She quickly retrieved a smaller size- phew- and zipped the dress with little resistance.

I still declined to eat before any fittings after that.

Will it zip?

Let's bring in backup, just in case.

What a cute story. :) And I know I bloat after I eat pasta or anything heavy in carbs. Good thing I really hate pasta (no offense to those who like it!) so I don't have to worry about dress fittings! ;)
Love your blog, too cute.

Just to make you feel better and they should have mentioned this to you at the time. When a sample fits perfect expect the dress you order to be snug. It has to do with the sample being tried on many times the fabric gives a little each time. I used to work in a bridal store and trust me this is a common thing. Don't blame the pasta. :)

I bought the only dress I tried on (but in fairness I was engaged once before and had been dress shopping)

I love your dress...that dress was one of my "finalists"! My dress zipped when I tried it on..it was huge actually. Then they took it in, and they took it in TOO MUCH. They asked me if I had gained weight (in a week? uh, no) and I said no and they finally agreed it was their mistake. I was terrified it wouldn't zip up for the wedding but we made it happen!

Your dress was so pretty! Lucky for me, my dress laced up in the back so it could expand if necessary!
