Book Club!!

So I was feeling over-ambitious Easter weekend and I managed to read two books cover to cover.  Over all, I really liked both of them!

 Jemima J
Jemima Jones is unhappy.  And fat.  She can't seem to make good friends and has nothing even close to resembling a social life.

That all changes when she meets Brad on an internet dating site.  She's now motivated to get healthy and in shape.  This alters her life far more than she ever expected.

I really enjoyed reading Jemima J.  I thought the characters were very realistic and I often found myself rooting for Jemima as she made positive life choices.  There are some twists and turns along the way that kept me reading.  Overall, I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Manhunting
I have been a huge fan of Jennifer Crusie ever since I read Agnes and the Hitman.  Although her storylines are somewhat predictable, they are entertaining nonetheless.

Kate Svenson wants to get married.  She is a successful business woman, but after 3 failed engagements, her personal life could use some serious improvement.  In an attempt to find the real Mr. Right, she makes a check list of desirable qualities in her future husband and sets off to a local lodge to find him.

Her checklist does very little to help her, but she does figure out what really makes her happy.

Overall, I would give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

P.S. My rating system does not have a real rhyme or reason.  I don't check off boxes for criteria.  I just give a number based on how I feel right after reading the book.  And the only books I would credit with a 5 out of 5 rating are the Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series or Emily Giffin's Something Borrowed/Something Blue, because I find them to be exceptional.

P.P.S.  (Is that right?)  I'm toying with the idea of doing a Book Club link up.  You wouldn't be required to read the same book as everyone else...and maybe it'd be monthly, instead of weekly, since I know everyone doesn't tear through books the way I do.  So this leads me to two questions: {1} Would you link up? and {2} Do you know if anyone already does this?  I don't want to copycat!

Jane Green is great-- I liked Mr. Maybe & Bookends! I'll have to add these to my (never-ending) to-read list. :)

And I'd love to do a book club or a linky. Great idea!

All the books you pick are so fun that I want to skip work just so I can read them! Haha.

I have been doing a Friday Book Club and was going to start a link-up as well. Maybe we can combine ours or I can just join yours.

Ugh! I need to read!!! My BFF Katie has a book blog (seekreadblog.com) and I'm sure she'd want to join and help host a link up.

I need to make more time to read... maybe this summer when I don't have as many events at work and all my favorite TV shows aren't on I can finally make the time!

Two books over the Easter Weekend...that is very impressive! I only got half way through mine and I had no excuses as it rained all weekend long! (via Mingle Monday)
