I need therapy.

I mentioned before that we spent the weekend in Kerrville with my in-laws.
We got in Friday afternoon and set up camp on the river.
I received a phone call and stepped away from the others since it was work related.

Duke and I were walking around the river and he was sticking his nose in to check things out.

That's when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw this guy.

Water Moccasin
Okay, I know I mentioned before that I get excited when I see alligators.

This is NOT true with snakes.

I have nightmares after seeing a snake at the pet store.

The picture above is not the actual snake I saw.

The actual snake was much bigger.  Like a python or anaconda.

There is no picture of the snake I saw.

That's because I promptly screamed, grabbed Duke, and ran far away from the river.

Did I mention I was on a work call when this happened?

But I didn't so much care at that time.

I was too busy having flashbacks of the scene in Lonesome Dove when Sean
is killed by a nest of water moccasins.

Duke shared similar feelings about the whole incident.

For fellow Lonesome Dove fans out there, I leave you with this quote:

I expected you to own a bank or at least a whorehouse by now Jake. It seems life has been a disappointment to both of us.
-Gus McCrae

If you need me, I'll be in therapy.

Girl, I would have done the same thing! Snakes scare the crap out of me! Like you, I have nightmares about them! I even raise my feet up if I see one in a movie or magazine!

Oh I feel you on the snakes...they're my BIGGEST fear! We have a pond behind the house we're living in and My Honey will sit out and shoot the hundres of snakes we see swimming accross! EW!

Oh my gosh, I would have peed my pants, and SCREAMED bloody murder, goodness! I'm sure the person on the other end of the phone got a good laugh! I probably would have just passed out, and then been attacked by the snake, ha!

"I figure out why you and me get along so well. You know more than you say and I say more than I know . . . we're a perfect match as long as we don't stay together longer than an hour at a stretch."

Great Book, Great Movie

I don't know if I scream and run when I see a snake but I surely don't hang around either. Though when I was a kind my grandpa always carried a gun when we went walking just for snakes.

Snakes FREAK me out! Oh, they're awful. I've held them before (the safe kind) when zoos would visit the school where I taught and I was trying to show the kids they didn't have to be scared of it. Haha, but not those guys!

I know exactly what you are talking about with Lonesome Doves! I refuse to get in any fresh body of water (besides the river) because of that show. I am deathly afraid of snakes, I would have passed out if I would have seen one. I had to even quickly scroll past the picture you posted.

You are absolutely hilarious! I'm sorry that you're suffering after that horrendous encounter with the snake though :(

I had a run-in with a rattlesnake. He decided to use the drive way to sun on...while I was getting the mail. And since this was a country driveway, I had to walk around him in my flip flops. I put my band years to good use. Heel, roll, toe. Heel, roll, toe. He didn't notice me. Then he was shot and skinned. That sunning didn't turn out so well for him.
