The Pioneer Woman

Disclaimer:  I'm cranky this morning.  It doesn't really affect the blog post.  I just thought I should share.

So I've mentioned this once or twice before, but I'm somewhat obsessed with The Pioneer Woman.  I am working on a campaign to move to her Oklahoma ranch with her.  So far, no progress, but she also hasn't filed a restraining order, so I'm happy.

Anyways, since I'm not yet eating her cooking and ogling cowboys on the ranch, I've been doing the next best thing...

Making her recipes and reading her book.

Cooking

My bff Jen gave me The Pioneer Woman Cooks for Christmas and I've really enjoyed making recipes from it since then.  But one of the recipes just stood out last week...

Lasagna

She actually calls it "The Best Lasagna.  Ever."  And I agree.

Before the oven.

The recipe is really simple and the results were to die for.  The prep time was about an hour, cooking time 30 minutes.  And she has step by step instructions on her blog.

 After the oven.

I actually intended to bake this, let it cool, and get it ready to take as lunch for the week.  But once it came out of the oven and the smells took over the house, both the hubby and I had forks in there.  It was sinfully good.

Reading

I preordered her new book and it arrived just before we left for vacation.  The hubby and I agreed that I should wait until then to read it, so I wouldn't run out of books.  I packed it, along with another book in my carry on for the plane rides to Jamaica.  I ended up waiting until our second flight before diving into the book, because I was exhausted and wanted to make sure I could fully appreciate it.

It. Was. Amazing.

Seriously, if you haven't picked up Black Heels to Tractor Wheels, do it.  Now.  Don't wait.  Your life will be much better for it.

For those of you not familiar with the Pioneer Woman, her story is about transitioning from being a city girl in the heart of LA to life on a ranch with her cowboy husband.  I laughed, I cried, and I intend to re-read it asap.  5 stars out of 5.

I sincerely hope you stopped reading this blog about 3 minutes ago and went to your local book store to purchase a copy.

Stopping by from Mingle Monday! Love your blog! I haven't caught on to the Pioneer Woman addiction, but I think it's inevitable. It seems like everyone I know is mildly obsessed with her.

Looking forward to following your blog! :)

Hahahah! I love your writing style--you had me crackin' up!! Thanks for stopping by from Mingle Monday :) I learned that the nasal rinse solutions can help with snoring so guess what my hubby got to try out tonight?!?! LOL!! I have zero confidence it'll really work, but his return to our bed may depend on it. :) I'm your newest follower! That lasagna had me starving all over again! YUM!
