Meet the Furbabies: Grayson

In 2008, Duke & I lived with a roommate and her kitty, who was Duke's best friend. The kitty had some issues that really turned me off to felines of all sorts.

After moving into a new apartment, I quickly realized Duke was lonely without his fuzzy friend.  Sassy was still living at my parents' house, and we weren't sure of her ability to transition to an apartment.  I didn't want another dog at that point, since we were in a little apartment.  But I wasn't sure I was ready for a cat either.

One day, while still debating, I was perusing the local Humane Society's website.  And I saw this face.

He was found down by the river in my hometown right after Hurricane Ike.  He was 4 weeks old.

It was over.

I quickly filled out an application, and paid the adoption fee.

It was about an hour afterwards that I realized I hadn't even mentioned it to the (now) hubby.  We weren't married yet, but headed in that direction, so big decisions like that should be run by him.  The conversation went like this...

Me: What do you think of this kitty?!

Husband:  He's adorable.  But I don't think we need a cat right now...

Me:  ...and what would you say if I already got him?

Husband:  Really?

Me: ...yes...

Husband: Then I love him!

Yes, he's wearing a bandana.  No, he didn't mind.

I'm actually not quite certain what happened to that tiny kitten.  He was quickly replaced with an enormous cat, maybe some type of Cougar mix.  Seriously, he's 17 lbs of sweetness.  And hunger.

He enjoys car rides, napping, harassing Sassy, wrestling with Duke & Hank, and kisses on the top of his head.

He hates kisses on his belly.  But when he lays like this, I just can't resist.

For you cat-haters out there:  If the pictures of baby Grayson didn't make you go "Eesa cute widdle baby kitty cat!  I just wanna cuddle him all day long!", then I strongly recommend you make an appointment with your local cardiologist.  I don't believe you have a heart.

Grayson is the cutest cat!!! What a sweet story! I love pet adoption stories! I have a beagle and I am trying to convince my fiance we need another dog. Maybe if I do what you did, it would all work out!! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Grayson is adorable!!!!! I literally LOLed at your last paragraph in this post. So true. I don't know why there are so many fervent cat haters out there. 17 lbs! That's a big boy!! And I love what your husband said after you got him...priceless.

OMG such a cutie. I'm allergic but I think cats are so sweet. I loved your little tid-bit at the end! I also love that you rescued your pet. Mine's rescued too! My post today is about my little guy.

Okay, so I don't like cats, but this can't ruin our friendship. I don't like cats because I'm highly allergic to them, and I think they're snobs. BUT yours are adorable.. does that help at all? :))
