Book Club

I would like to begin by apologizing for the blatant display of cheesiness yesterday. It was inexcusable. Also, my husband said the post "lacked substance" and left him "unsatisfied." So, my deepest apologies.

As Tara mentioned yesterday, it may snow today! I'm super excited. For those of you not in South Texas, this is extremely rare for us. And very exciting. Also, we had power when we got home last night! That didn't stop us from building a fire though. I'll use any excuse to get the hubby to build a fire. It's so cozy!

What better way to spend the evening than with a fire going and a good book?

This week's Book Club post is about A Total Waste of Makeup by Kim Gruenenfelder.

I snatched this book off Amazon at the recommendation of a friend. I usually love the books that {b} recommends, but this one was a slow starter for me. I actually started it 3 times over the course of a couple months before I finished it.

Charlie Edwards is the personal assistant to superstar Drew Stanton. She's turning 30, single, and starting to wonder if she'll ever meet that special someone. Her role as maid of honor in her sometimes bridezilla sister's wedding only rubs salt in the wound. She turns to her supermodel best friends and her married (& pregnant for the 3rd time) cousin for advice while dealing with her boss' comical antics to help.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't one of my favorites. I did enjoy the character of Drew Stanton; his behavior and mannerisms were goofy. I think I'll rate this book 3.5 stars out of 5.
